THIS IS WHY I LOVE MY JOB SO MUCH!

Merci Sergio, your words mean so much!

A couple of weeks ago I received an email, that brighten my day, my week… my month. In 2015, I welcomed an expat in Montréal. Now, as he was getting ready to go back home, he remembered our encounter from almost 3 years ago.

It was so thoughtful and it reminded me when I love what I do. This is the email as I received it. Merci Sergio, your words mean so much!

Hello Pascale!

This is Sergio. You will probably not remember me. Gameloft hired me from Spain, and Fleur de Lys was responsible to "take care" of me and help me settle during my first days in Montreal.

I arrived on June 1, 2015, and you were waiting for me in the airport. Not only was I tired, but also nervous, since it was my first time living abroad. However, you always made me feel comfortable and my journey couldn't begin any better. You had already bought some food for me and you took me to do some paperwork and open a bank account in the subsequent days. Your service was fundamental and I never felt alone during the process.

During these two and a half years, I have sometimes found myself thinking about you. It is worth noting that you were my first real contact upon my arrival, and that is hard to forget. The goal of this email is just to let you know that I highly appreciate your assistance. It is easy to feel overwhelmed when you arrive alone in a country that you have never visited before and that is so far away from home, so a company like Fleur De Lys and a person like you are very much needed.

I am writing this to you today because I will be leaving the country permanently very soon. I resigned from my position and I will be flying back to Spain. I have had a great time here, I have learned a lot and I am grateful to everyone I have ever come across during my stay here, but my work permit would have been expired next year and I felt like not applying for permanent residency. Had I done it, that would have meant that I would have had to stay here in the long term, but seeing my parents and friends for two or three weeks a year is not enough for me.

So I guess that my particular Canadian cycle closes right here, by sending an email to the first person I met in Canada. Thank you very, very much for everything you did for me and I wish you and your family lots of happiness.

We wish you best of luck in the future!
